 | 1 Now we will discuss time. Time is a specific material element that is
independent of the three modes of nature. It consists of past, present and future, and it has simultaneity, delay, speed, and other aspects. It is the cause of the material universe’s creation and destruction. It is like a turning wheel, a wheel that has spokes beginning with second and ending with eons. It is described in the following words of the Sruti-sastra:
| | 1 Ahora discutiremos el tiempo. El tiempo es un elemento material específico que es independiente a las tres modalidades de la naturaleza. Consiste en pasado, presente, futuro y tiene la simultaneidad, demora, velocidad y otros aspectos. Es la causa de la creación y destrucción del universo material. Es como una rueda giratoria, la cual tiene rayos que comienzan con segundos y terminan con períodos incalculables de tiempo. Eso se describe con las siguientes palabras en el Śruti-śāstra:

| | “Lord Visnu is the controller of time. He knows everything. He has all transcendental qualities.”

| | “O inaugurator of the material energy, this wonderful creation works under the control of powerful time, which is divided into seconds, minutes, hours and years.This element of time, which extends for many millions of years, is but another form of Lord Visnu. For Your pastimes You act as the controller of time, but You are the reservoir of all good fortune. Let me offer my full surrender unto your Lordship.”
| | «¡Oh, Tú, que inauguras la energía material!, esta maravillosa creación actúa bajo el control del poderoso tiempo, que divide en segundos, minutos, horas y años. El factor tiempo, que se extiende durante muchos millones de años, no es sino otra forma del Señor Viṣṇu. | | “The material universe is like a wheel. Time is like a wheel.”

| | Time is powerful and eternal. In the Sruti-sastra it is said: Before the
material universe was manifested, time existed.

| | “O gently one, before the material universe was created, time existed.”

| | Time acts everywhere. In the Sruti-sastra it is said:

| | “There is no place in the material world where time is not present.”

| | Time controls the material world. Still, time itself is under the control of
the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This is confirmed by the passage beginning
‘jnah kala -kalah’ in the Sruti-sastra and also by Srimad Bhagavatam 10.3.26, both passages quoted above, ime has no power in the spiritual world. In Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (2.2.17) it is said:

| | «En ese trascendental estado de labdhopaśānti no existe la supremacía del devastador tiempo, el cual controla incluso a los semidioses celestiales que están apoderados para gobernar a las criaturas terrenales».
