tataḥ pariṇate kāle
pratiṣṭhāna-patiḥ prabhuḥ
purūravasa utsṛjya

PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO
| | According to the Vedic system, one within the institution of varṇa and āśrama must leave his family life after he reaches fifty years of age (pañcāśordhvaṁ vanaṁ vrajet). Thus Sudyumna followed the prescribed regulations of varṇāśrama by leaving the kingdom and going to the forest to complete his spiritual life.

Bhaktivedanta Svāmi Prabhupāda of the Ninth Canto, First Chapter, of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, entitled “King Sudyumna Becomes a Woman.” | | | El sistema védico establece que los seguidores de la institución de varṇa y āśrama deben abandonar la vida familiar antes de los cincuenta años de edad (pañcāśad ūrdhvaṁ vanaṁ vrajet). Por esa razón, Sudyumna abandonó el reino y se marchó al bosque a completar su vida espiritual, siguiendo las reglas prescritas de varṇāśrama.
