yadā kadācij jīvātmā
saṁsaran nija-karmabhiḥ
nānā-yoniṣv anīśo ’yaṁ
pauruṣīṁ gatim āvrajet

 | While rotating in the cycle of birth and death again and again in different species because of his own fruitive activities, the dependent living entity, by good fortune, may happen to become a human being. This human birth is very rarely obtained. | | | La entidad viviente es un ser subordinado. Puede ocurrir que, mientras rueda una y otra vez en el ciclo de nacimientos y muertes, pasando por diversas especies de vida, tenga la buena fortuna de obtener la forma humana. Ese nacimiento como ser humano, muy rara vez se logra. | |
PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO
| | The Supreme Personality of Godhead is fully independent. Thus it is not always a fact that a living being’s loss of all opulence is a sign of the Supreme Lord’s mercy upon him. The Lord can act any way He likes. He may take away one’s opulence, or He may not. There are varieties of forms of life, and the Lord treats them according to the circumstances, as He chooses. Generally it is to be understood that the human form of life is one of great responsibility. | | | La Suprema Personalidad de Dios goza de plena independencia. Por lo tanto, el hecho de que una entidad viviente pierda su opulencia no siempre es signo de la misericordia del Señor Supremo para con ella. El Señor puede actuar como desee. Puede quitarnos la opulencia, o no quitárnosla. Hay diversidad de especies de vida, y el Señor, conforme a las circunstancias, decide por Sí mismo qué trato darles. sad-asad-yoni-janmasu | | | | | “The living entity in material nature follows the ways of life, enjoying the three modes of nature. This is due to his association with that material nature. Thus he meets with good and evil amongst various species.” (Bhagavad-gītā 13.22) | | | «La entidad viviente que se encuentra en la naturaleza material sigue así los caminos de la vida, disfrutando de las tres modalidades de la naturaleza. Ello se debe a su contacto con esa naturaleza material. De ese modo, se encuentra con el bien y el mal entre las diversas especies». (Bhagavad-gītā 13.22) | | | | | After thus rotating through many, many forms of life in the cycle of birth and death, the living being gets a chance for a human form. Therefore every human being, especially one belonging to a civilized nation or culture, must be extremely responsible in his activities. He should not risk degradation in the next life. Because the body will change (tathā dehāntara-prāptir), we should be extremely careful. To see to the proper use of life is the purpose of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. The foolish living entity declares freedom from all control, but factually he is not free; he is fully under the control of material nature. He must therefore be most careful and responsible in the activities of his life. | | | Después de rodar en el ciclo de nacimientos y muertes en muchísimas formas de vida, la entidad viviente recibe una oportunidad y alcanza la forma humana. Por consiguiente, todo ser humano, y en especial los que pertenecen a naciones o culturas civilizadas, deben ser muy responsables en todas sus actividades. No deben correr el riesgo de degradarse en la siguiente vida. Teniendo en cuenta que tendremos que cambiar de cuerpo (tathā dehāntara-prāptir), debemos obrar con extrema cautela. El objetivo del Movimiento para la Conciencia de Kṛṣṇa es velar por la correcta utilización de la vida. La entidad viviente, en su necedad, se declara libre de toda forma de control, pero lo cierto es que no lo es; la naturaleza material la tiene completamente sometida a su control.
