sarvātmanā mahi gṛṇāmi yathā manīṣam
nīco ’jayā guṇa-visargam anupraviṣṭaḥ
pūyeta yena hi pumān anuvarṇitena

 | Therefore, although I was born in a demoniac family, I may without a doubt offer prayers to the Lord with full endeavor, as far as my intelligence allows. Anyone who has been forced by ignorance to enter the material world may be purified of material life if he offers prayers to the Lord and hears the Lord’s glories. | | | Por esa razón, yo, a pesar de haber nacido en una familia demoníaca, puedo sin duda poner todo mi empeño en ofrecer oraciones al Señor, en la medida en que mi inteligencia me lo permita. Todo aquel a quien la ignorancia haya forzado a entrar en el mundo material puede purificarse de la vida material si ofrece oraciones al Señor y escucha cantar Sus glorias. | |
PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO
| | It is clearly understood that a devotee does not need to be born in a very high family, to be rich, to be aristocratic or to be very beautiful. None of these qualifications will engage one in devotional service. With devotion one should feel, “God is great, and I am very small. Therefore my duty is to offer my prayers to the Lord.” Only on this basis can one understand and render service to the Lord. As the Lord says in Bhagavad-gītā (18.55): | | | Queda perfectamente claro que una persona, para ser devoto, no necesita haber nacido en una familia muy elevada, ni ser rico, aristocrático o muy hermoso. Ninguna de esas cualidades hará que se ocupe en servicio devocional. Debemos cultivar el sentimiento devocional: «Dios es grande y yo soy muy pequeño. Por lo tanto, mi deber es ofrecer oraciones al Señor». Solo partiendo de esa base podremos comprender al Señor y ofrecerle servicio. En el Bhagavad-gītā (18.55), el Señor dice: | | | | | bhaktyā mām abhijānāti
yāvān yaś cāsmi tattvataḥ
tato māṁ tattvato jñātvā
viśate tad-anantaram | | | bhaktyā mām abhijānāti

viśate tad-anantaram | | | | | “One can understand the Supreme Personality as He is only by devotional service. And when one is in full consciousness of the Supreme Lord by such devotion, he can enter into the kingdom of God.” | | | «Únicamente se Me puede comprender tal y como soy, como la Suprema Personalidad de Dios, por medio del servicio devocional. Y cuando, mediante esa devoción, se tiene plena conciencia de Mí, se puede entrar en el Reino de Dios». | | | | | Thus Prahlāda Mahārāja decided to offer his best prayers to the Lord, without consideration of his material position. | | | Así pues, Mahārāja Prahlāda decidió ofrecer sus mejores oraciones al Señor, sin pararse en consideraciones acerca de su posición material. | | |
