श्रूयतां ब्रह्मर्षयो मे सहदेवाः सहाग्नयः ।
साधूनां ब्रुवतो वृत्तं नाज्ञानान्न च मत्सरात् ॥९॥
śrūyatāṁ brahmarṣayo me
saha-devāḥ sahāgnayaḥ
sādhūnāṁ bruvato vṛttaṁ
nājñānān na ca matsarāt

 | All sages, brāhmaṇas and fire-gods present, please hear me with attention, for I speak about the manners of gentle persons. I do not speak out of ignorance or envy. | | | Escuchadme todos con atención, ¡oh, sabios, brāhmaṇas y dioses del fuego aquí presentes! Escuchadme, por favor, pues hablo de los modales de las personas educadas, y no lo hago por ignorancia ni por envidia. | |
PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO
| | In speaking against Lord Śiva, Dakṣa tried to pacify the assembly by presenting in a very tactful way that he was going to speak about the manners of gentle persons, although naturally this might affect some unmannerly upstarts and the assembly might be unhappy because they did not want even unmannerly persons to be offended. In other words, he was in complete knowledge that he was speaking against Lord Śiva in spite of Śiva’s spotless character. As far as envy is concerned, from the very beginning he was envious of Lord Śiva; therefore he could not distinguish his own particular envy. Although he spoke like a man in ignorance, he wanted to cover his statements by saying that he was not speaking for impudent and envious reasons. | | | Para hablar en contra del Señor Śiva, Dakṣa trató de serenar los ánimos de la asamblea obrando con mucho tacto al exponer que iba a hablar acerca de los buenos modales, aunque esto, claro está, tal vez molestase a ciertos advenedizos maleducados y tal vez provocase el malestar de la asamblea, pues sus miembros no deseaban que nadie fuese ofendido, ni siquiera las personas maleducadas. En otras palabras, tenía plena conciencia de que estaba hablando en contra del Señor Śiva a pesar del carácter intachable de éste. En cuanto a la envidia, estaba envidioso del Señor Śiva desde el mismo principio; por esa razón, era incapaz de darse cuenta de su propia envidia. Aunque habló como un hombre influido por la ignorancia, quiso velar sus afirmaciones diciendo que no hablaba movido por la envidia y la insolencia. | | |
