तेऽपि विश्वसृजः सत्रं सहस्रपरिवत्सरान् ।
संविधाय महेष्वास यत्रेज्य ऋषभो हरिः ॥३४॥
te ’pi viśva-sṛjaḥ satraṁ
sahasra-parivatsarān
saṁvidhāya maheṣvāsa
yatrejya ṛṣabho hariḥ

 | The sage Maitreya continued: O Vidura, all the progenitors of the universal population thus executed a sacrifice for thousands of years, for sacrifice is the best way to worship the Supreme Lord, Hari, the Personality of Godhead. | | | El sabio Maitreya continuó: ¡Oh, Vidura!, los progenitores de la población del universo ejecutaron entonces un sacrificio que duró miles de años, pues el sacrifico es la mejor manera de adorar al Señor Supremo, Hari, la Personalidad de Dios. | |
PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO
| | It is clearly stated here that the stalwart personalities who generate the entire population of the world are interested in satisfying the Supreme Personality of Godhead by offering sacrifices. The Lord also says in Bhagavad-gītā (5.29), bhoktāraṁ yajña-tapasām. One may engage in performing sacrifices and severe austerities for perfection, but they are all meant to satisfy the Supreme Lord. lf such activities are performed for personal satisfaction, one is involved in pāṣaṇḍa, or atheism; but when they are performed for the satisfaction of the Supreme Lord, one is following the Vedic principle. All the assembled sages performed sacrifices for one thousand years. | | | Aquí se afirma claramente que las poderosas personalidades que generaron toda la población del mundo están interesadas en satisfacer a la Suprema Personalidad de Dios ofreciendo sacrificios. El Señor dice también en el Bhagavad-gītā (5.29): bhoktāraṁ yajña-tapasām. Puede que alguien se ocupe en la ejecución de sacrificios y de rigurosas austeridades para conseguir la perfección, pero todas esas actividades son para satisfacer al Señor Supremo. Si se ejecutan en busca de satisfacción personal, enredan a la persona en pāṣaṇḍa, es decir, ateísmo; pero quien las ejecute para satisfacer al Señor Supremo, estará siguiendo el principio védico.
