गृहेषु कूटधर्मेषु दुःखतन्त्रेष्वतन्द्रितः ।
कुर्वन्दुःखप्रतीकारं सुखवन्मन्यते गृही ॥९॥
gṛheṣu kūṭa-dharmeṣu
duḥkha-tantreṣv atandritaḥ
kurvan duḥkha-pratīkāraṁ
sukhavan manyate gṛhī

 | The attached householder remains in his family life, which is full of diplomacy and politics. Always spreading miseries and controlled by acts of sense gratification, he acts just to counteract the reactions of all his miseries, and if he can successfully counteract such miseries, he thinks that he is happy. | | | El hombre casado apegado permanece en la vida familiar, que está llena de diplomacia e intrigas. Siempre causando infelicidad, y controlado por actos de complacencia de los sentidos, trata de neutralizar las reacciones de todas sus miserias, y si tiene éxito en ese esfuerzo, se considera feliz. | |
PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO
| | In Bhagavad-gītā the Personality of Godhead Himself certifies the material world as an impermanent place that is full of miseries. There is no question of happiness in this material world, either individually or in terms of family, society or country. If something is going on in the name of happiness, that is also illusion. Here in this material world, happiness means successful counteraction to the effects of distress. The material world is so made that unless one becomes a clever diplomat, his life will be a failure. Not to speak of human society, even the society of lower animals, the birds and bees, cleverly manages its bodily demands of eating, sleeping and mating. Human society competes nationally or individually, and in the attempt to be successful the entire human society becomes full of diplomacy. We should always remember that in spite of all diplomacy and all intelligence in the struggle for our existence, everything will end in a second by the supreme will. Therefore, all our attempts to become happy in this material world are simply a delusion offered by māyā. | | | En el Bhagavad-gītā, la Personalidad de Dios certifica personalmente que el mundo material es un lugar temporal lleno de infelicidad. No hay posibilidad de ser feliz en el mundo material, ni a nivel individual, ni familiar, ni social, ni nacional. Cualquier supuesta felicidad que exista, también es ilusión. En el mundo material, felicidad significa tener éxito en neutralizar los efectos del sufrimiento. El mundo material está hecho de tal forma que cualquiera que no adquiera sutileza diplomática, fracasará en la vida. Y no sólo en la sociedad humana: incluso las sociedades de animales inferiores, como las aves y las abejas, son hábiles en organizar la satisfacción de sus necesidades físicas de comer, dormir y aparearse. Dentro de la sociedad humana hay competencia entre las naciones y entre los individuos, y en la lucha por el éxito, toda la sociedad humana se llena de tratos diplomáticos. Siempre debemos recordar que, a pesar de toda la diplomacia y toda la inteligencia que empleemos en la lucha por la existencia, por la voluntad suprema, todo terminará en un segundo. Por consiguiente, todos nuestros intentos de ser felices en el mundo material no son más que una alucinación de māyā. | | |
