 | Lord Kṛṣṇa, who is the spiritual master of the entire universe, accepted the duty of a messenger and, deputed by Arjuna, went to the assembly of King Dhṛtarāṣṭra on a peace mission. Kṛṣṇa is everyone’s Lord, yet because He was the transcendental friend of Arjuna, He gladly accepted the role of messenger, exactly like an ordinary friend. That is the beauty of the Lord’s behavior with His pure devotees. He reached the assembly and spoke about peace, and the message was relished by Bhīṣma and other great leaders because it was spoken by the Lord Himself. But due to the exhaustion of the pious results of their past deeds, Duryodhana, or his father, Dhṛtarāṣṭra, did not take the message very seriously. That is the way of persons who have no credit of pious deeds. By past pious deeds, one may become the king of a country, but because the results of the pious acts of Duryodhana and company were dwindling, it became evident from their actions that they were sure to lose the kingdom to the Pāṇḍavas. The message of Godhead is always like nectar to the devotees, but it is just the opposite to the nondevotees. Sugar candy is always sweet to a healthy man, but it tastes very bitter to persons suffering from jaundice. | | | Śrī Kṛṣṇa, que es el maestro espiritual del universo entero, aceptó el oficio de mensajero, delegado por Arjuna, fue a la asamblea del rey Dhṛtarāṣṭra en una misión de paz. Kṛṣṇa es el Señor de todos; sin embargo, debido a que Él era el amigo trascendental de Arjuna, aceptó con todo gusto el papel de mensajero, exactamente igual que un amigo corriente. Ésa es la belleza del comportamiento del Señor con Sus devotos puros. Llegó a la asamblea y habló acerca de la paz, y Bhīṣma y otros grandes líderes saborearon el mensaje con deleite, porque lo hablaba el propio Señor. Pero Duryodhana, o su padre, Dhṛtarāṣṭra, habiéndoseles agotado los resultados piadosos de sus acciones pasadas, no tomaron el mensaje muy en serio. Así son las personas que no tienen en su haber acciones piadosas. Por las acciones piadosas pasadas, se puede llegar a ser el rey de un país, pero, debido a que los resultados de los actos piadosos de Duryodhana y compañía estaban menguando, se hizo evidente por sus acciones que con toda seguridad habrían de perder el reino a manos de los Pāṇḍavas. El mensaje de Dios es siempre como néctar para los devotos, pero para los no devotos es justamente lo opuesto. El azúcar cande es siempre dulce para el hombre sano, pero a las personas que padecen de ictericia les sabe muy amargo. | |
