द्रव्यं कर्म च कालश्च स्वभावो जीव एव च
यदनुग्रहतः सन्ति न सन्ति यदुपेक्षया
dravyaṁ karma ca kālaś ca

na santi yad-upekṣayā

 | One should definitely know that all material ingredients, activities, time and modes, and the living entities who are meant to enjoy them all, exist by His mercy only, and as soon as He does not care for them, everything becomes nonexistent. | | | Uno debe saber definitivamente que todos los ingredientes materiales, las actividades, el tiempo y las modalidades, así como las entidades vivientes que están destinadas a disfrutar de todo ello, existen sólo por Su misericordia, y tan pronto como Él no se ocupa de ellos, todo se vuelve inexistente. | |
PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO
| | The living entities are the enjoyers of the material ingredients, time, modes, etc., because they want to lord it over the material nature. The Lord is the supreme enjoyer, and the living entities are meant to assist the Lord in His enjoyment and thus participate in the transcendental enjoyment of everyone. The enjoyer and the enjoyed both participate in enjoyment, but, deluded by the illusory energy, the living entities want to become the enjoyer like the Lord, although they are not meant for such enjoyment. The jīvas, the living entities, are mentioned in the Bhagavad-gītā as the Lord’s superior nature, or parā prakṛti, and so also it is mentioned in the Viṣṇu Purāṇa. Therefore the living entities are never the puruṣas, or the factual enjoyers. As such, the spirit of enjoyment by the living entity in the material world is false. In the spiritual world the living entities are pure in nature, and therefore they are associates in the enjoyment of the Supreme Lord. In the material world the spirit of enjoyment of the living entities by dint of their own actions (karma) gradually fades by the laws of nature, and thus the illusory energy dictates in the ears of the conditioned souls that they should become one with the Lord. This is the last snare of the illusory energy. When the last illusion is also cleared off by the mercy of the Lord, the living entity again becomes reinstated in his original position and thus becomes actually liberated. For this attainment of liberation from the material clutches, the Lord creates the material world, maintains it for some time (one thousand years of His measurement, as stated in the previous verse), and then again annihilates it by His will. The living entities are therefore completely dependent on the mercy of the Lord, and all their so-called enjoyments by scientific improvement are crushed into dust when the Lord desires. | | | Las entidades vivientes son las disfrutadoras de los ingredientes materiales, el tiempo, las modalidades, etc., debido a que quieren enseñorearse de la naturaleza material. El Señor es el disfrutador supremo, y las entidades vivientes tienen la función de asistir al Señor en Su disfrute, y participar así en el disfrute trascendental de todo el mundo. El disfrutador y el disfrutado participan ambos del disfrute, pero las entidades vivientes, engañadas por la energía ilusoria, quieren volverse disfrutadoras como el Señor, si bien no están hechas para ese disfrute. En el Bhagavad-gītā se dice que las jīvas, las entidades vivientes, constituyen la naturaleza superior del Señor, o parā prakṛti, y eso mismo se dice en el Viṣṇu-Purāṇa. Luego las entidades vivientes nunca son los puruṣas, o los disfrutadores verdaderos. Por ello, el espíritu que posee la entidad viviente de disfrutar en el mundo material, es falso. En el mundo espiritual, las entidades vivientes son de naturaleza pura, en virtud de lo cual son asociadas del disfrute del Señor Supremo. En el mundo material, el espíritu de disfrute que poseen las entidades vivientes en razón de sus propias acciones (karma), gradualmente se esfuma por las leyes de la naturaleza, y la energía ilusoria dicta, entonces, en los oídos de las almas condicionadas, que deben volverse uno con el Señor. Ésa es la última trampa de la energía ilusoria. Cuando la última ilusión es también eliminada por la misericordia del Señor, la entidad viviente queda de nuevo reinstalada en su posición original, de esa manera, queda verdaderamente liberada. Para que se logre esa liberación de las garras materiales, el Señor crea el mundo material, lo mantiene por cierto tiempo (durante mil de Sus años, según se afirma en el verso anterior), y luego lo aniquila de nuevo por Su voluntad. De modo que, las entidades vivientes dependen por completo de la misericordia del Señor, y todos sus supuestos disfrutes, logrados mediante el mejoramiento científico, son hechos polvo cuando el Señor lo desea. | | |
