sūta uvāca
atharva-vit sumantuś ca
śiṣyam adhyāpayat svakām
saṁhitāṁ so ’pi pathyāya
vedadarśāya coktavān

TRANSLATION — TRADUCCION

Sūta Gosvāmī said: Sumantu Ṛṣi, the authority on the Atharva Veda, taught his saṁhitā to his disciple Kabandha, who in turn spoke it to Pathya and Vedadarśa.Sūta Gosvāmī dijo: Sumantu Ṛṣi, la autoridad en el Atharva Veda, enseñó su saṁhitā a su discípulo Kabandha, quien a su vez se lo enseñó a Pathya y a Vedadarśa.

PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO

As confirmed in the Viṣṇu Purāṇa:

atharva-vedaṁ sa muniḥ
sumantur amita-dyutiḥ
śiṣyam adhyāpayām āsa
kabandhaṁ so ’pi ca dvidhā
kṛtvā tu vedadarśāya
tathā pathyāya dattavān
Como se confirma en el Viṣṇu Purāṇa:

atharva-vedaṁ sa muniḥ
sumantur amita-dyutiḥ
śiṣyam adhyāpayām āsa
kabandhaṁ so ’pi ca dvidhā
kṛtvā tu vedadarśāya
tathā pathyāya dattavān

“That sage Sumantu, whose brilliance was immeasurable, taught the Atharva Veda to his disciple Kabandha. Kabandha in turn divided it into two parts and passed them down to Vedadarśa and Pathya.”

«Ese sabio Sumantu, cuya brillantez era inconmensurable, enseñó el Atharva Veda a su discípulo Kabandha. Kabandha a su vez lo dividió en dos partes y se los entregó a Vedadarśa y a Pathya».
