taṁ gopāyati rājendra
śakraḥ śaraṇam āgatam
tena saṁstambhitaḥ sarpas
tasmān nāgnau pataty asau

WORD BY WORD — PALABRA POR PALABRA

TRANSLATION — TRADUCCION

The brāhmaṇas replied: O best of kings, the snake Takṣaka has not fallen into the fire because he is being protected by Indra, whom he has approached for shelter. Indra is holding him back from the fire.

Los brāhmaṇas respondieron: ¡Oh, el mejor de los reyes! La serpiente Takṣaka no ha caído en el fuego porque está protegida por Indra, a quien se acercó en busca de refugio. Indra la está alejando del fuego.
