evaṁ-vṛtto gurukule
vased bhoga-vivarjitaḥ
vidyā samāpyate yāvad
bibhrad vratam akhaṇḍitam

TRANSLATION — TRADUCCION

Until the student has completed his Vedic education he should remain engaged in the āśrama of the spiritual master, should remain completely free of material sense gratification and should not break his vow of celibacy [brahmacarya].Hasta que el estudiante termine su educación védica, debe permanecer ocupado en el āśrama del maestro espiritual, debe permanecer completamente libre de la gratificación material de los sentidos y no debe romper su voto de celibato [brahmacarya].

PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO

This verse describes the upakurvāṇa-brahmacārī, who enters gṛhastha-āśrama, or family life, after completing his Vedic education. The word evaṁ-vṛttaḥ indicates that although one may eventually marry and become prominent in society as an intellectual, politician or businessman, during student life one must remain without false prestige as a humble servant of the bona fide spiritual master. The naiṣṭhiki-brahmacārī, who never marries, is described in the following verse.Este verso describe al upakurvāṇa-brahmacārī, quien entra en el gṛhastha-āśrama, la vida familiar, después de completar su educación védica. La palabra evaṁ-vṛttaḥ indica que, aunque con el tiempo uno puede casarse y volverse prominente en la sociedad como intelectual, político o hombre de negocios, durante la vida estudiantil debe permanecer sin falso prestigio y como discípulo iniciado del maestro espiritual genuino. En el verso siguiente se describe al naiṣṭhiki-brahmacārī, quien nunca se casa.
