sa evaṁ bhāryayā vipro
bahuśaḥ prārthito muhuḥ
ayaṁ hi paramo lābha
uttamaḥśloka-darśanam
iti sañcintya manasā
gamanāya matiṁ dadhe
apy asty upāyanaṁ kiñcid
gṛhe kalyāṇi dīyatām

TRANSLATION — TRADUCCION

[Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued:] When his wife thus repeatedly implored him in various ways, the brāhmaṇa thought to himself, “To see Lord Kṛṣṇa is indeed the greatest achievement in life.” Thus he decided to go, but first he told her, “My good wife, if there is anything in the house I can bring as a gift, please give it to me.[Śukadeva Gosvāmī continuó:] Cuando su esposa le imploró repetidamente de diversas maneras, el brāhmaṇa pensó para sí mismo: «En realidad ver al Señor Kṛṣṇa es el logro más grande de la vida». Así que decidió ir, pero primero le dijo: «Mi buena esposa, si hay algo en la casa que pueda llevar como regalo, por favor dámelo».

PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO

Sudāmā was naturally humble, and thus although at first he was dissatisfied with his wife’s proposal, finally he settled his mind and decided to go. Now the last detail was that he had to take a gift for his friend.Sudāmā era humilde por naturaleza y aunque al principio no estaba conforme con la propuesta de su esposa, finalmente se tranquilizó y decidió ir. Ahora el último detalle era que tenía que llevar un regalo para su amigo.
