10.80.1	King Parīkṣit said: My lord, O master, I wish to hear about other valorous deeds performed by the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Mukunda, whose valor is unlimited.	El rey Parīkṣit dijo: ¡oh, maestro, Mi señor! deseo escuchar acerca de otras acciones valerosas realizadas por la Suprema Personalidad de Dios, Mukunda, cuyo valor es ilimitado.

10.80.2	O brāhmaṇa, how could anyone who knows the essence of life and is disgusted with endeavoring for sense gratification give up the transcendental topics of Lord Uttamaḥśloka after hearing them repeatedly?	¡Oh, brāhmaṇa!, ¿cómo podría alguien que conoce la esencia de la vida y está disgustado con el esfuerzo por la complacencia de los sentidos, abandonar los temas trascendentales del Señor Uttamaḥśloka después de escucharlos repetidamente?

10.80.3	Actual speech is that which describes the qualities of the Lord, real hands are those that work for Him, a true mind is that which always remembers Him dwelling within everything moving and nonmoving, and actual ears are those that listen to sanctifying topics about Him.	El habla verdadera es la que describe las cualidades del Señor, las manos verdaderas son las que trabajan para Él, una mente verdadera es la que siempre lo recuerda morando dentro de todo lo móvil e inmóvil, los oídos verdaderos son los que escuchan temas santificadores acerca de Él.

10.80.4	An actual head is one that bows down to the Lord in His manifestations among the moving and nonmoving creatures, real eyes are those that see only the Lord, and actual limbs are those which regularly honor the water that has bathed the Lord’s feet or those of His devotees.	Una cabeza verdadera es aquella que se inclina ante el Señor en Sus manifestaciones entre las criaturas móviles e inmóviles, los ojos reales son aquellos que ven sólo al Señor, los miembros reales son aquellos que honran regularmente el agua que ha bañado los pies del Señor o los de Sus devotos.

10.80.5	Sūta Gosvāmī said: Thus questioned by King Viṣṇurāta, the powerful sage Bādarāyaṇi replied, his heart fully absorbed in meditation on the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Vāsudeva.	Sūta Gosvāmī dijo: Cuando el rey Viṣṇurāta le hizo estas preguntas, el poderoso sabio Bādarāyaṇi respondió con el corazón totalmente absorto en la meditación en la Suprema Personalidad de Dios, Vāsudeva.

10.80.6	Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Lord Kṛṣṇa had a certain brāhmaṇa friend [named Sudāmā] who was most learned in Vedic knowledge and detached from all sense enjoyment. Furthermore, his mind was peaceful and his senses subdued.	Śukadeva Gosvāmī dijo: El Señor Kṛṣṇa tenía un amigo brāhmaṇa [llamado Sudāmā] que era sumamente erudito en el conocimiento védico y estaba desapegado de todo disfrute de los sentidos. Además, su mente estaba en paz y sus sentidos dominados.

10.80.7	Living as a householder, he maintained himself with whatever came of its own accord. The wife of that poorly dressed brāhmaṇa suffered along with him and was emaciated from hunger.	Él vivía como un hombre casado y se mantenía con lo que le llegaba por sí solo. La esposa de ese brāhmaṇa pobremente vestido sufría junto con él y estaba demacrada por el hambre.

10.80.8	The chaste wife of the poverty-stricken brāhmaṇa once approached him, her face dried up because of her distress. Trembling with fear, she spoke as follows. 10.80.9	[Sudāmā’s wife said:] O brāhmaṇa, isn’t it true that the husband of the goddess of fortune is the personal friend of your exalted self? That greatest of Yādavas, the Supreme Lord Kṛṣṇa, is compassionate to brāhmaṇas and very willing to grant them His shelter.	[La esposa de Sudāmā dijo:] ¡Oh, brāhmaṇa! ¿No es cierto que el esposo de la diosa de la fortuna es el amigo personal de tu excelso ser? El más grande de los Yādavas, el Supremo Señor Kṛṣṇa, es compasivo con los brāhmaṇas y está muy dispuesto a concederles Su refugio.

10.80.10	O fortunate one, please approach Him, the real shelter of all saints. He will certainly give abundant wealth to such a suffering householder as you.	¡Oh, afortunado! acércate a Él, el verdadero refugio de todos los santos. Él ciertamente le dará riquezas abundantes a un hombre de familia que sufre como tú.

10.80.11	Lord Kṛṣṇa is now the ruler of the Bhojas, Vṛṣṇis and Andhakas and is staying at Dvārakā. Since He gives even His own self to anyone who simply remembers His lotus feet, what doubt is there that He, the spiritual master of the universe, will bestow upon His sincere worshiper prosperity and material enjoyment, which are not even very desirable?	El Señor Krishna ahora es el gobernante de los Bhojas, Vṛṣṇis y Andhakas y se encuentra en Dvārakā. Puesto que Él se da incluso a Sí mismo a cualquiera que simplemente recuerde Sus pies de loto, ¿qué duda hay de que Él, el maestro espiritual del universo, concederá a Su sincero adorador prosperidad y disfrute material, que ni siquiera son muy deseables?

10.80.12-13	[Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued:] When his wife thus repeatedly implored him in various ways, the brāhmaṇa thought to himself, “To see Lord Kṛṣṇa is indeed the greatest achievement in life.” Thus he decided to go, but first he told her, “My good wife, if there is anything in the house I can bring as a gift, please give it to me.”	[Śukadeva Gosvāmī continuó:] Cuando su esposa le imploró repetidamente de diversas maneras, el brāhmaṇa pensó para sí mismo: «En realidad ver al Señor Kṛṣṇa es el logro más grande de la vida». Así que decidió ir, pero primero le dijo: «Mi buena esposa, si hay algo en la casa que pueda llevar como regalo, por favor dámelo».

10.80.14	Sudāmā’s wife begged four handfuls of flat rice from neighboring brāhmaṇas, tied up the rice in a torn piece of cloth and gave it to her husband as a present for Lord Kṛṣṇa.	La esposa de Sudāmā pidió cuatro puñados de hojuelas de arroz a los brāhmaṇas vecinos, ató el arroz en un trozo de tela rasgado y se lo dio a su esposo como regalo para el Señor Kṛṣṇa.

10.80.15	Taking the flat rice, the saintly brāhmaṇa set off for Dvārakā, all the while wondering “How will I be able to have Kṛṣṇa’s audience?”	Tomando las hojuelas de arroz, el santo brāhmaṇa partió hacia Dvārakā, mientras se preguntaba: «¿Cómo podré conseguir la audiencia con Kṛṣṇa?»

10.80.16-17	The learned brāhmaṇa, joined by some local brāhmaṇas, passed three guard stations and went through three gateways, and then he walked by the homes of Lord Kṛṣṇa’s faithful devotees, the Andhakas and Vṛṣṇis, which ordinarily no one could do. He then entered one of the opulent palaces belonging to Lord Hari’s sixteen thousand queens, and when he did so he felt as if he were attaining the bliss of liberation.	El brāhmaṇa erudito, acompañado por algunos brāhmaṇas locales, pasó por tres puestos de guardia, tres puertas y finalmente caminó por las casas de los fieles devotos del Señor Kṛṣṇa, los Andhakas y los Vṛṣṇis, lo que normalmente nadie podría hacer. 10.80.18	At that time Lord Acyuta was seated on His consort’s bed. Spotting the brāhmaṇa at some distance, the Lord immediately stood up, went forward to meet him and with great pleasure embraced him. Al ver al brāhmaṇa a cierta distancia, el Señor se puso de pie de inmediato, fue a su encuentro y con gran placer lo abrazó.

10.80.19	The lotus-eyed Supreme Lord felt intense ecstasy upon touching the body of His dear friend, the wise brāhmaṇa, and thus He shed tears of love.	El Señor Supremo de ojos de loto sintió un éxtasis intenso al tocar el cuerpo de Su querido amigo, el sabio brāhmaṇa, por eso derramó lágrimas de amor.

10.80.20-22	Lord Kṛṣṇa seated His friend Sudāmā upon the bed. Then the Lord, who purifies the whole world, personally offered him various tokens of respect and washed his feet, O King, after which He sprinkled the water on His own head. He anointed him with divinely fragrant sandalwood, aguru and kuṅkuma pastes and happily worshiped him with aromatic incense and arrays of lamps. After finally offering him betel nut and the gift of a cow, He welcomed him with pleasing words.	El Señor Krishna hizo sentar a Su amigo Sudāmā en la cama. Entonces el Señor, que purifica el mundo entero, le ofreció personalmente diversas muestras de respeto y le lavó los pies, ¡oh, Rey!, después de lo cual roció el agua sobre Su propia cabeza. Lo ungió con sándalo de fragancia divina, pastas de aguru y kuṅkuma, lo adoró alegremente con incienso aromático e hileras de lámparas. 10.80.23	By fanning him with her cāmara, the divine goddess of fortune personally served that poor brāhmaṇa, whose clothing was torn and dirty and who was so thin that veins were visible all over his body.	Al abanicarlo con su cāmara, la divina diosa de la fortuna sirvió personalmente a aquel pobre brāhmaṇa, cuya ropa estaba rota, sucia y que estaba tan delgado que se le veían las venas por todo el cuerpo.

10.80.24	The people in the royal palace were astonished to see Kṛṣṇa, the Lord of spotless glory, so lovingly honor this shabbily dressed brāhmaṇa. 10.80.25-26	[The residents of the palace said:] What pious acts has this unkempt, impoverished brāhmaṇa performed? People regard him as lowly and contemptible, yet the spiritual master of the three worlds, the abode of Goddess Śrī, is serving him reverently. Leaving the goddess of fortune sitting on her bed, the Lord has embraced this brāhmaṇa as if he were an older brother.	[Los residentes del palacio dijeron:] ¿Qué actos piadosos realizó este brāhmaṇa desaliñado y empobrecido? La gente lo considera bajo y despreciable, pero el maestro espiritual de los tres mundos, la morada de la diosa Śrī, lo está sirviendo con reverencia. Dejando a la diosa de la fortuna sentada en su cama, el Señor abrazó a este brāhmaṇa como si fuera un hermano mayor.

10.80.27	[Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued:] Taking each other’s hands, O King, Kṛṣṇa and Sudāmā talked pleasantly about how they once lived together in the school of their guru.	[Śukadeva Gosvāmī continuó:] Tomándose las manos, ¡oh, rey!, Kṛṣṇa y Sudāmā hablaron agradablemente acerca de cómo una vez vivieron juntos en la escuela de su guru.

10.80.28	The Supreme Lord said: My dear brāhmaṇa, you know well the ways of dharma. After you offered the gift of remuneration to our guru and returned home from his school, did you marry a compatible wife or not?	El Señor Supremo dijo: Mi querido brāhmaṇa, tú conoces bien los caminos del dharma. Después de ofrecer el regalo de la remuneración a nuestro guru y regresar a tu casa desde tu escuela, ¿te casaste con una esposa compatible o no?

10.80.29	Even though you are mostly involved in household affairs, your mind is not affected by material desires. Nor, O learned one, do you take much pleasure in the pursuit of material wealth. This I am well aware of.	Aunque te dedicas principalmente a los asuntos del hogar, tu mente no se ve afectada por los deseos materiales. ¡Oh erudito! tampoco disfrutas mucho de la búsqueda de riquezas materiales. De esto estoy muy consciente.

10.80.30	Having renounced all material propensities, which spring from the Lord’s illusory energy, some people execute worldly duties with their minds undisturbed by mundane desires. They act as I do, to instruct the general populace.	Habiendo renunciado a todas las tendencias materiales que surgen de la energía ilusoria del Señor, algunas personas ejecutan deberes mundanos con la mente libre de deseos mundanos. 10.80.31	My dear brāhmaṇa, do you remember how we lived together in our spiritual master’s school? When a twice-born student has learned from his guru all that is to be learned, he can enjoy spiritual life, which lies beyond all ignorance.	Mi querido brāhmaṇa, ¿recuerdas cómo vivíamos juntos en la escuela de nuestro maestro espiritual? Cuando un estudiante nacido dos veces aprendió de su gurú todo lo que debe aprenderse, puede disfrutar de la vida espiritual, que se encuentra más allá de toda ignorancia.

10.80.32	My dear friend, he who gives a person his physical birth is his first spiritual master, and he who initiates him as a twice-born brāhmaṇa and engages him in religious duties is indeed more directly his spiritual master. But the person who bestows transcendental knowledge upon the members of all the spiritual orders of society is one’s ultimate spiritual master. Indeed, he is as good as My own self.	Mi querido amigo, aquel que le da a una persona su nacimiento físico es su primer maestro espiritual, aquel que la inicia como un brāhmaṇa nacido por segunda vez y la ocupa en deberes religiosos es, en verdad, su maestro espiritual más directo. Pero la persona que otorga conocimiento trascendental a los miembros de todas las órdenes espirituales de la sociedad es el maestro espiritual supremo. En verdad, él es tan bueno como Yo mismo.

10.80.33	Certainly, O brāhmaṇa, of all the followers of the varṇāśrama system, those who take advantage of the words I speak in My form as the spiritual master and thus easily cross over the ocean of material existence best understand their own true welfare.	¡Oh, brāhmaṇa! ciertamente de todos los seguidores del sistema varṇāśrama, aquellos que aprovechan las palabras que hablo en Mi forma de maestro espiritual y de ese modo cruzan fácilmente el océano de la existencia material, son los que mejor entienden su propio y verdadero bienestar.

10.80.34	I, the Soul of all beings, am not as satisfied by ritual worship, brahminical initiation, penances or self-discipline as I am by faithful service rendered to one’s spiritual master.	Yo, el Alma de todos los seres, no estoy tan satisfecho con la adoración ritual, la iniciación brahmínica, las penitencias o la autodisciplina como con el servicio fiel prestado al maestro espiritual.

10.80.35-36	O brāhmaṇa, do you remember what happened to us while we were living with our spiritual master? Once our guru’s wife sent us to fetch firewood, and after we entered the vast forest, O twice-born one, an unseasonal storm arose, with fierce wind and rain and harsh thunder.	¡Oh, brāhmaṇa! ¿recuerdas lo que nos ocurrió mientras vivíamos con nuestro maestro espiritual? Una vez, la esposa de nuestro gurú nos envió a buscar leña, después de que entramos en el vasto bosque, ¡oh, tú, el que naciste dos veces! se desató una tormenta fuera de temporada, con vientos, lluvias feroces y fuertes truenos.

10.80.37	Then, as the sun set, the forest was covered by darkness in every direction, and with all the flooding we could not distinguish high land from low.	Después, cuando se puso el Sol, el bosque quedó cubierto de obscuridad en todas direcciones y con toda la inundación no podíamos distinguir las tierras altas de las bajas.

10.80.38	Constantly besieged by the powerful wind and rain, we lost our way amidst the flooding waters. We simply held each other’s hands and, in great distress, wandered aimlessly about the forest.	Asediados Constantemente por el fuerte viento y la lluvia, nos perdimos en medio de las aguas desbordadas. Simplemente nos tomamos de la mano y con gran angustia, vagamos sin rumbo por el bosque.

10.80.39	Our guru, Sāndīpani, understanding our predicament, set out after sunrise to search for us, his disciples, and found us in distress.	Nuestro gurú, Sāndīpani, comprendiendo nuestra situación, salió después del amanecer a buscarnos a nosotros, sus discípulos y nos encontró en apuros.

10.80.40	[Sāndīpani said:] O my children, you have suffered so much for my sake! The body is most dear to every living creature, but you are so dedicated to me that you completely disregarded your own comfort.	[Sāndīpani dijo:] ¡Oh, hijos míos! ¡Han sufrido tanto por mí! El cuerpo es lo más querido para toda criatura viviente, pero ustedes son tan dedicados a mí que descuidaron por completo su propia comodidad.

10.80.41	This indeed is the duty of all true disciples: to repay the debt to their spiritual master by offering him, with pure hearts, their wealth and even their very lives.	Éste es ciertamente el deber de todo verdadero discípulo: saldar la deuda con su maestro espiritual ofreciéndole, con corazón puro, sus riquezas e incluso sus propias vidas.

10.80.42	You boys are first-class brāhmaṇas, and I am satisfied with you. May all your desires be fulfilled, and may the Vedic mantras you have learned never lose their meaning for you, in this world or the next.	Ustedes, muchachos, son brāhmaṇas de primera clase, estoy satisfecho con ustedes. Que todos sus deseos se cumplan y que los mantras védicos que han aprendido nunca pierdan su significado para ustedes, ni en este mundo ni en el próximo.

10.80.43	[Lord Kṛṣṇa continued:] We had many similar experiences while living in our spiritual master’s home. Simply by the grace of the spiritual master a person can fulfill life’s purpose and attain eternal peace.	[El Señor Kṛṣṇa continuó:] Tuvimos muchas experiencias similares mientras vivíamos en la casa de nuestro maestro espiritual. Simplemente por la gracia del maestro espiritual, una persona puede cumplir el propósito de la vida y alcanzar la paz eterna.

10.80.44	The brāhmaṇa said: What could I possibly have failed to achieve, O Lord of lords, O universal teacher, since I was able to personally live with You, whose every desire is fulfilled, at the home of our spiritual master?	El brāhmaṇa dijo: ¡Oh Señor de señores, oh maestro universal! cuyos deseos se cumplen, ¿qué podría haber dejado de lograr, ya que pude vivir personalmente Contigo en la casa de nuestro maestro espiritual?

10.80.45	O almighty Lord, Your body comprises the Absolute Truth in the form of the Vedas and is thus the source of all auspicious goals of life. That You took up residence at the school of a spiritual master is simply one of Your pastimes in which You play the role of a human being.	¡Oh, Señor Todopoderoso! Tu cuerpo contiene la Verdad Absoluta en la forma de los Vedas, por lo tanto, es la fuente de todos los objetivos auspiciosos de la vida. El hecho de que hayas establecido tu residencia en la escuela de un maestro espiritual es simplemente uno de Tus pasatiempos en los que desempeñas el papel de un ser humano.
