10.22.1	Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: During the first month of the winter season, the young unmarried girls of Gokula observed the vow of worshiping goddess Kātyāyanī. For the entire month they ate only unspiced khichrī.	Śukadeva Gosvāmī dijo: Durante el primer mes de la temporada de invierno, las jóvenes solteras de Gokula observaron el voto de adorar a la diosa Kātyāyanī. Durante todo el mes solo comieron khichrī sin condimentar.

10.22.2-3	My dear King, after they had bathed in the water of the Yamunā just as the sun was rising, the gopīs made an earthen deity of goddess Durgā on the riverbank. Then they worshiped her with such aromatic substances as sandalwood pulp, along with other items both opulent and simple, including lamps, fruits, betel nuts, newly grown leaves, and fragrant garlands and incense.	Mi querido rey, después de haberse bañado en el agua del Yamunā justo cuando salía el sol, las gopīs formaron una deidad de la diosa Durgā con tierra en la orilla del río. Luego la adoraron con sustancias aromáticas como la pulpa de sándalo, junto con otros artículos opulentos y sencillos, como lámparas, frutas, nueces de betel, hojas recién cultivadas y fragantes guirnaldas e incienso.

10.22.4	Each of the young unmarried girls performed her worship while chanting the following mantra. “O goddess Kātyāyanī, O great potency of the Lord, O possessor of great mystic power and mighty controller of all, please make the son of Nanda Mahārāja my husband. I offer my obeisances unto you.”	Cada una de las jóvenes solteras realizó su adoración mientras cantaba el siguiente mantra. «Oh diosa Kātyāyanī, oh gran potencia del Señor, oh poseedora de un gran poder místico y poderosa controladora de todo, por favor haz del hijo de Nanda Mahārāja mi esposo. 10.22.5	Thus for an entire month the girls carried out their vow and properly worshiped the goddess Bhadrakālī, fully absorbing their minds in Kṛṣṇa and meditating upon the following thought: “May the son of King Nanda become my husband.”	Así, durante un mes entero, las muchachas cumplieron su voto y adoraron adecuadamente a la diosa Bhadrakālī, absorbiendo completamente sus mentes en Kṛṣṇa y meditando sobre el siguiente pensamiento: «Que el hijo del rey Nanda se convierta en mi esposo».

10.22.6	Each day they rose at dawn. Calling out to one another by name, they all held hands and loudly sang the glories of Kṛṣṇa while going to the Kālindī to take their bath.	Cada día se levantaban al amanecer. Llamándose unas a otras por su nombre, todas se tomaron de las manos y cantaron en voz alta las glorias de Kṛṣṇa mientras iban al Kālindī a bañarse.

10.22.7	One day they came to the riverbank and, putting aside their clothing as they had done before, happily played in the water while singing the glories of Kṛṣṇa. 10.22.8	Lord Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead and master of all masters of mystic yoga, was aware of what the gopīs were doing, and thus He went there surrounded by His young companions to award the gopīs the perfection of their endeavor.	El Señor Kṛṣṇa, la Suprema Personalidad de Dios y maestro de todos los maestros del yoga místico, era consciente de lo que estaban haciendo las gopīs, por lo tanto, fue allí rodeado de Sus jóvenes compañeros para otorgarles a las gopīs la perfección de su esfuerzo.

10.22.9	Taking the girls’ garments, He quickly climbed to the top of a kadamba tree. Then, as He laughed loudly and His companions also laughed, He addressed the girls jokingly. 10.22.10	[Lord Kṛṣṇa said:] My dear girls, you may each come here as you wish and take back your garments. I’m telling you the truth and am not joking with you, since I see you’re fatigued from executing austere vows.	[El Señor Kṛṣṇa dijo:] Mis queridas muchachas, cada una de ustedes puede venir aquí como lo desee y recuperar sus prendas. Les estoy diciendo la verdad y no estoy bromeando con ustedes, ya que veo que están cansadas de ejecutar sus austeros votos.

10.22.11	I have never before spoken a lie, and these boys know it. Therefore, O slender-waisted girls, please come forward, either one by one or all together, and pick out your clothes.	Nunca antes he dicho una mentira y estos niños lo saben. Por lo tanto, oh muchachas de cintura delgada, por favor vengan, una por una o todas juntas y escojan su ropa.

10.22.12	Seeing how Kṛṣṇa was joking with them, the gopīs became fully immersed in love for Him, and as they glanced at each other they began to laugh and joke among themselves, even in their embarrassment. But still they did not come out of the water.	Al ver cómo Kṛṣṇa bromeaba con ellas, las gopīs se sumergieron por completo en su amor y mientras se miraban, comenzaron a reír y bromear entre ellas, incluso en su vergüenza. 10.22.13	As Śrī Govinda spoke to the gopīs in this way, His joking words completely captivated their minds. Submerged up to their necks in the cold water, they began to shiver. Thus they addressed Him as follows.	Cuando Śrī Govinda habló a las gopīs de esta manera, Sus palabras de broma cautivaron por completo sus mentes. 10.22.14	[The gopīs said:] Dear Kṛṣṇa, don’t be unfair! We know that You are the respectable son of Nanda and that You are honored by everyone in Vraja. You are also very dear to us. Please give us back our clothes. We are shivering in the cold water.	[Las gopīs dijeron:] ¡Querido Kṛṣṇa, no seas injusto! Sabemos que eres el respetable hijo de Nanda y que eres honrado por todos en Vraja. También nos eres muy querido. Por favor, devuélvenos nuestra ropa. Estamos temblando en el agua fría.

10.22.15	O Śyāmasundara, we are Your maidservants and must do whatever You say. But give us back our clothing. You know what the religious principles are, and if You don’t give us our clothes we will have to tell the king. Please!	Oh Śyāmasundara, somos Tus sirvientas y debemos hacer lo que Tú digas. Pero devuélvenos nuestra ropa. Sabes cuáles son los principios religiosos y si no nos das nuestra ropa tendremos que decírselo al rey. ¡Por favor!

10.22.16	The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: If you girls are actually My maidservants, and if you will really do what I say, then come here with your innocent smiles and let each girl pick out her clothes. If you don’t do what I say, I won’t give them back to you. And even if the king becomes angry, what can he do?	La Suprema Personalidad de Dios dijo: Si en realidad ustedes son Mis sirvientas y si realmente hacen lo que les digo, vengan aquí con sus sonrisas inocentes y dejen que cada muchacha elija su ropa. Si no hacen lo que les digo, no se las devolveré. Incluso si el rey se enoja, ¿qué puede hacer?

10.22.17	Then, shivering from the painful cold, all the young girls rose up out of the water, covering their pubic area with their hands.	Entonces, temblando por el doloroso frío, todas las jóvenes muchachas se levantaron del agua, cubriendo su área púbica con sus manos.

10.22.18	When the Supreme Lord saw how the gopīs were struck with embarrassment, He was satisfied by their pure loving affection. Putting their clothes on His shoulder, the Lord smiled and spoke to them with affection.	Cuando el Señor Supremo vio cómo las gopīs estaban avergonzadas, se sintió satisfecho por su afecto amoroso puro. Poniendo sus ropas sobre su hombro, el Señor sonrió y les habló con cariño.

10.22.19	[Lord Kṛṣṇa said:] You girls bathed naked while executing your vow, and that is certainly an offense against the demigods. To counteract your sin you should offer obeisances while placing your joined palms above your heads. Then you should take back your lower garments.	[El Señor Kṛṣṇa dijo:] Ustedes muchachas se bañaron desnudas mientras ejecutaban su voto, eso es ciertamente una ofensa contra los semidioses. Para contrarrestar su pecado, deben ofrecer reverencias mientras colocan sus palmas juntas sobre sus cabezas. Entonces podrán recuperar sus prendas inferiores.

10.22.20	Thus the young girls of Vṛndāvana, considering what Lord Acyuta had told them, accepted that they had suffered a falldown from their vow by bathing naked in the river. But they still desired to successfully complete their vow, and since Lord Kṛṣṇa is Himself the ultimate result of all pious activities, they offered their obeisances to Him to cleanse away all their sins.	Así, las jóvenes de Vṛndāvana, considerando lo que el Señor Acyuta les dijo, aceptaron que sufrieron una caída de su voto al bañarse desnudas en el río. 10.22.21	Seeing them bow down like that, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the son of Devakī, gave them back their garments, feeling compassionate toward them and satisfied by their act.	Al verlas inclinarse así, la Suprema Personalidad de Dios, el hijo de Devakī, les devolvió sus vestimentas, sintiéndose compasivo hacia ellas y satisfecho por su acto.

10.22.22	Although the gopīs had been thoroughly cheated, deprived of their modesty, ridiculed and made to act just like toy dolls, and although their clothing had been stolen, they did not feel at all inimical toward Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Rather, they were simply joyful to have this opportunity to associate with their beloved.	Aunque las gopīs fueron engañadas por completo, privadas de su modestia, ridiculizadas y obligadas a actuar como muñecas de juguete y aunque les robó la ropa, no se sentían en absoluto hostiles hacia Śrī Kṛṣṇa. 10.22.23	The gopīs were addicted to associating with their beloved Kṛṣṇa, and thus they became captivated by Him. Thus, even after putting their clothes on they did not move. They simply remained where they were, shyly glancing at Him.	Las gopīs eran adictas a asociarse con su amado Kṛṣṇa, por eso quedaron cautivadas por Él. 10.22.24	The Supreme Lord understood the determination of the gopīs in executing their strict vow. The Lord also knew that the girls desired to touch His lotus feet, and thus Lord Dāmodara, Kṛṣṇa, spoke to them as follows.	El Señor Supremo entendió la determinación de las gopīs al ejecutar su voto estricto. El Señor también sabía que las muchachas deseaban tocar Sus pies de loto, por eso el Señor Dāmodara, Kṛṣṇa, les habló de la siguiente manera.

10.22.25	[Lord Kṛṣṇa said:] O saintly girls, I understand that your real motive in this austerity has been to worship Me. That intent of yours is approved of by Me, and indeed it must come to pass.	[El Señor Kṛṣṇa dijo:] Oh, santas muchachas, entiendo que su verdadero motivo en esta austeridad ha sido adorarme. Esa intención suya es aprobada por Mí y ciertamente debe suceder.

10.22.26	The desire of those who fix their minds on Me does not lead to material desire for sense gratification, just as barleycorns burned by the sun and then cooked can no longer grow into new sprouts.	El deseo de aquellos que fijan sus mentes en Mí no conduce al deseo material de gratificación de los sentidos, de la misma manera que los granos de cebada quemados por el sol y luego cocinados ya no pueden convertirse en nuevos brotes.

10.22.27	Go now, girls, and return to Vraja. Your desire is fulfilled, for in My company you will enjoy the coming nights. After all, this was the purpose of your vow to worship goddess Kātyāyanī, O pure-hearted ones.	Vayan ahora, muchachas y regresen a Vraja. Su deseo se cumple porque en Mi compañía disfrutarán de las próximas noches. Después de todo, ese fue el propósito de su voto de adorar a la diosa Kātyāyanī, oh las de corazón puro.

10.22.28	Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Thus instructed by the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the young girls, their desire now fulfilled, could bring themselves only with great difficulty to return to the village of Vraja, meditating all the while upon His lotus feet.	Śukadeva Gosvāmī dijo: Así instruidas por la Suprema Personalidad de Dios, las jóvenes, su deseo ahora cumplido, solo podían obligarse con gran dificultad a regresar a la aldea de Vraja, meditando todo el tiempo sobre Sus pies de loto.

10.22.29	Some time later Lord Kṛṣṇa, the son of Devakī, surrounded by His cowherd friends and accompanied by His elder brother, Balarāma, went a good distance away from Vṛndāvana, herding the cows.	Algún tiempo después, el Señor Kṛṣṇa, el hijo de Devakī, rodeado de sus amigos pastores y acompañado por su hermano mayor, Balarāma, se alejó bastante de Vṛndāvana, pastoreando las vacas.

10.22.30	When the sun’s heat became intense, Lord Kṛṣṇa saw that the trees were acting as umbrellas by shading Him, and thus He spoke as follows to His boyfriends.	Cuando el calor del sol se hizo intenso, el Señor Kṛṣṇa vio que los árboles actuaban como paraguas al sombrearlo, entonces habló a sus amigos de la siguiente manera.

10.22.31-32	[Lord Kṛṣṇa said:] O Stoka Kṛṣṇa and Aṁśu, O Śrīdāma, Subala and Arjuna, O Viśāla, Vṛṣabha, Ojasvī, Devaprastha and Varūthapa, just see these greatly fortunate trees, whose lives are completely dedicated to the benefit of others. Even while tolerating the wind, rain, heat and snow, they protect us from these elements.	[El Señor Kṛṣṇa dijo:] O Stoka Kṛṣṇa y Aṁśu, O Śrīdāma, Subala y Arjuna, O Viśāla, Vṛṣabha, Ojasvī, Devaprastha y Varūthapa, solo vean a estos árboles tan afortunados, cuyas vidas están completamente dedicadas al beneficio de los demás. Incluso al tolerar el viento, la lluvia, el calor y la nieve, nos protegen de estos elementos.

10.22.33	Just see how these trees are maintaining every living entity! Their birth is successful. Their behavior is just like that of great personalities, for anyone who asks anything from a tree never goes away disappointed.	¡Solo mira cómo estos árboles mantienen a cada entidad viviente! Su nacimiento es exitoso. Su comportamiento es como el de las grandes personalidades, ya que cualquiera que pide algo a un árbol nunca se va decepcionado.

10.22.34	These trees fulfill one’s desires with their leaves, flowers and fruits, their shade, roots, bark and wood, and also with their fragrance, sap, ashes, pulp and shoots.	Estos árboles satisfacen los deseos de uno con sus hojas, flores y frutos, su sombra, raíces, corteza y madera y también con su fragancia, savia, cenizas, pulpa y brotes.

10.22.35	It is the duty of every living being to perform welfare activities for the benefit of others with his life, wealth, intelligence and words.	Es deber de todo ser vivo realizar actividades de bienestar en beneficio de otros con su vida, riqueza, inteligencia y palabras.

10.22.36	Thus moving among the trees, whose branches were bent low by their abundance of twigs, fruits, flowers and leaves, Lord Kṛṣṇa came to the Yamunā River.	Moviéndose así entre los árboles, cuyas ramas estaban dobladas por la abundancia de ramitas, frutas, flores y hojas, el Señor Kṛṣṇa llegó al río Yamunā.

10.22.37	The cowherd boys let the cows drink the clear, cool and wholesome water of the Yamunā. O King Parīkṣit, the cowherd boys themselves also drank that sweet water to their full satisfaction.	Los pastores dejaron que las vacas bebieran el agua clara, fresca y saludable del Yamunā. ¡Oh, rey Parīkṣit ! los mismos pastores también bebieron esa agua dulce para su plena satisfacción.

10.22.38	Then, O King, the cowherd boys began herding the animals in a leisurely way within a small forest along the Yamunā. But soon they became afflicted by hunger and, approaching Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma, spoke as follows.	Entonces, oh Rey, los pastores comenzaron a pastorear a los animales de manera pausada dentro de un pequeño bosque a lo largo del Yamunā. Pero pronto se vieron afectados por el hambre y acercándose a Kṛṣṇa y Balarāma, hablaron de la siguiente manera.
