अर्जुन उवाच
वञ्चितोऽहं महाराज हरिणा बन्धुरूपिणा
येन मेऽपहृतं तेजो देवविस्मापनं महत्
arjuna uvāca
vañcito ’haṁ mahā-rāja
hariṇā bandhu-rūpiṇā
yena me ’pahṛtaṁ tejo
deva-vismāpanaṁ mahat

 | Arjuna said: O King! The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Hari, who treated me exactly like an intimate friend, has left me alone. Thus my astounding power, which astonished even the demigods, is no longer with me. | | | Arjuna dijo: ¡Oh, Rey!, la Suprema Personalidad de Dios, Hari, quien me trató tal como un amigo íntimo, me ha dejado solo. Así pues, mi sorprendente poder, que asombró incluso a los semidioses, ya no está conmigo. | |
PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO
| | In the Bhagavad-gītā (10.41) the Lord says, “Anyone specifically powerful and opulent in wealth, strength, beauty, knowledge and all that is materially desirable is to be considered but a product of an insignificant portion of the complete whole of My energy.” No one, therefore, can be independently powerful in any measure without being endowed by the Lord. When the Lord descends to the earth along with His eternal, ever-liberated associates, He not only displays the divine energy possessed by Himself, but also empowers His associate devotees with the required energy to execute His mission of incarnation. It is also stated in the Bhagavad-gītā (4.5) that the Lord and His eternal associates descend to the earth many times, but the Lord remembers all the different roles of incarnations, whereas the associates, by His supreme will, forget them. Similarly, the Lord takes away with Him all His associates when He disappears from the earth. The power and energy which were bestowed upon Arjuna were required for fulfillment of the mission of the Lord, but when His mission was fulfilled, the emergency powers were withdrawn from Arjuna because the astounding powers of Arjuna, which were astonishing even to the denizens of heaven, were no longer required, and they were not meant for going back home, back to Godhead. If endowment of powers and withdrawal of powers by the Lord are possible even for a great devotee like Arjuna, or even the demigods in heaven, then what to speak of the ordinary living beings who are but figs compared to such great souls. The lesson is, therefore, that no one should be puffed up for his powers borrowed from the Lord. The sane man should rather feel obliged to the Lord for such benefactions and must utilize such power for the service of the Lord. Such power can be withdrawn at any time by the Lord, so the best use of such power and opulence is to engage them in the service of the Lord. | | | En El Bhagavad-gītā [10.14], el Señor dice: “A cualquiera que específicamente sea poderoso y opulento en riqueza, fuerza, belleza, conocimiento y en todo lo que es deseable desde el punto de vista material, no se le debe considerar más que un producto de una insignificante porción de la totalidad de Mi energía”. Nadie puede, por lo tanto, ser poderoso independientemente en ninguna medida, sin que el Señor se lo haya conferido. Cuando el Señor desciende a la Tierra junto con sus asociados eternos y siempre liberados, Él no sólo exhibe la energía divina que Él Mismo posee, sino que también apodera a Sus devotos asociados con la energía que se requiere para ejecutar Su misión de encarnación. También se afirma en el Bhagavad-gītā (4.5) que el Señor y Sus asociados eternos descienden a la Tierra muchas veces, pero que el Señor recuerda todos los diferentes papeles de las encarnaciones, mientras que los asociados, por Su voluntad suprema, los olvidan. Así mismo, cuando el Señor desaparece de la Tierra, se lleva consigo a Sus asociados. El poder y la energía que se le confirieron a Arjuna se requerían para el cumplimiento de la misión del Señor, pero cuando la misión se cumplió, a Arjuna se le retiraron los poderes de emergencia, debido a que esos asombrosos poderes, asombrosos incluso para los ciudadanos del cielo, ya no se requerían, y no estaban hechos para ir de vuelta al hogar, de vuelta a Dios. Si el Señor puede dotar de poderes y retirarle los poderes incluso a un gran devoto como Arjuna, o incluso a los semidioses del cielo, entonces ni qué hablar de los seres vivientes ordinarios, que son muy insignificantes en comparación con esas grandes almas. La lección de esto es, entonces, que nadie debe estar engreído de sus poderes, los cuales toma prestados del Señor. El hombre cuerdo más bien debe sentirse obligado con el Señor por semejantes favores, y debe utilizar dicho poder para el servicio del Señor. El Señor puede retirar ese poder en cualquier momento, y por eso el mejor uso que se les puede dar a ese poder y a esa opulencia es el de ocuparlos en el servicio del Señor. | | |
