अन्तवत्तु फलं तेषां तद्भवत्यल्पमेधसाम् ।
देवान्देवयजो यान्ति मद्भक्ता यान्ति मामपि ॥ २३ ॥

tad bhavaty alpa-medhasām
devān deva-yajo yānti
mad-bhaktā yānti mām api

TRANSLATION — TRADUCCION
 | Men of small intelligence worship the demigods, and their fruits are limited and temporary. Those who worship the demigods go to the planets of the demigods, but My devotees ultimately reach My supreme planet.
| | Los hombres de poca inteligencia adoran a los semidioses y sus frutos son limitados y temporales. Aquellos que adoran a los semidioses van a los planetas de los semidioses, pero al final Mis devotos alcanzan Mi planeta supremo.

PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO
| | Some commentators on the Bhagavad-gītā say that one who worships a demigod can reach the Supreme Lord, but here it is clearly stated that the worshipers of demigods go to the different planetary systems where various demigods are situated, just as a worshiper of the sun achieves the sun or a worshiper of the demigod of the moon achieves the moon. Similarly, if anyone wants to worship a demigod like Indra, he can attain that particular god’s planet. It is not that everyone, regardless of whatever demigod is worshiped, will reach the Supreme Personality of Godhead. That is denied here, for it is clearly stated that the worshipers of demigods go to different planets in the material world but the devotee of the Supreme Lord goes directly to the supreme planet of the Personality of Godhead.
| | Algunos comentaristas del Bhagavad-gītā dicen que quien adora a un semidiós puede alcanzar al Señor Supremo, pero aquí se afirma claramente que los adoradores de los semidioses van a los distintos sistemas planetarios donde están ubicados los diversos semidioses, así como un adorador del Sol alcanza al Sol o un adorador del semidiós de la Luna alcanza la Luna. Similarmente si alguien quiere adorar a un semidiós como Indra, puede alcanzar el planeta particular de ese dios. No es que todo el mundo, sin considerar que semidiós adora, alcanzará a la Suprema Personalidad de Dios. Aquí se niega eso, pues claramente se afirma que los adoradores de los semidioses van a diferentes planetas dentro del mundo material, pero el devoto del Señor Supremo va directamente al planeta supremo de la Personalidad de Dios.
| | | Here the point may be raised that if the demigods are different parts of the body of the Supreme Lord, then the same end should be achieved by worshiping them. However, worshipers of the demigods are less intelligent because they don’t know to what part of the body food must be supplied. Some of them are so foolish that they claim that there are many parts and many ways to supply food. This isn’t very sanguine. Can anyone supply food to the body through the ears or eyes? They do not know that these demigods are different parts of the universal body of the Supreme Lord, and in their ignorance they believe that each and every demigod is a separate God and a competitor of the Supreme Lord.
| | Aquí se podría señalar que si los semidioses son diferentes partes del cuerpo del Señor Supremo, entonces adorándolos se deberá alcanzar el mismo fin. Sin embargo, los adoradores de los semidioses son menos inteligentes porque no saben a qué parte del cuerpo hay que proveer de alimento. Algunos de ellos son tan tontos que alegan que hay muchas partes y muchas maneras de abastecer el alimento. Esto no es muy inteligente. ¿Puede alguien abastecer de alimento al cuerpo a través de los oídos o los ojos? Ellos ignoran que estos semidioses son diferentes partes del cuerpo universal del Señor Supremo, y en su ignorancia creen que todos y cada uno de los semidioses es un Dios separado y un competidor del Señor Supremo.
| | | Not only are the demigods parts of the Supreme Lord, but ordinary living entities are also. In the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam it is stated that the brāhmaṇas are the head of the Supreme Lord, the kṣatriyas are His arms, the vaiśyas are His waist, the śūdras are His legs, and all serve different functions. Regardless of the situation, if one knows that both the demigods and he himself are part and parcel of the Supreme Lord, his knowledge is perfect. But if he does not understand this, he achieves different planets where the demigods reside. This is not the same destination the devotee reaches.
| | No solamente los semidioses son parte del Señor Supremo, sino también las entidades vivientes ordinarias. En el Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam se afirma que los brāhmaṇas son la cabeza del Señor Supremo, que los kṣatriyas son los brazos, etc., y que todos desempeñan distintas funciones. Sin considerar la situación, si uno sabe que tanto los sernidioses como uno mismo son parte o porción del Señor Supremo, entonces su conocimiento es perfecto. Pero si no entiende esto, uno alcanza diferentes planetas donde residen los sernidioses. Este no es el mismo destino que alcanza el devoto.
| | | The results achieved by the demigods’ benedictions are perishable because within this material world the planets, the demigods and their worshipers are all perishable. Therefore it is clearly stated in this verse that all results achieved by worshiping demigods are perishable, and therefore such worship is performed by the less intelligent living entity. Because the pure devotee engaged in Kṛṣṇa consciousness in devotional service of the Supreme Lord achieves eternal blissful existence that is full of knowledge, his achievements and those of the common worshiper of the demigods are different. The Supreme Lord is unlimited; His favor is unlimited; His mercy is unlimited. Therefore the mercy of the Supreme Lord upon His pure devotees is unlimited.
| | Los resultados logrados por las bendiciones de los semidioses son perecederos, ya que dentro de este mundo material todos los planetas, los semidioses y sus adoradores son perecederos. Por consiguiente en este verso se afirma claramente que todos los resultados logrados por medio de la adoración a los semidioses son perecederos y que por lo tanto tal adoración la realizan las entidades vivientes menos inteligentes. Dado que el devoto puro está ocupado en la Conciencia de Kṛṣṇa en servicio devocional al Señor Supremo, logra la eterna existencia bienaventurada que está llena de conocimiento, sus logros y los del adorador común y corriente de los sernidioses son diferentes. El Señor Supremo es ilimitado, Su favor es ilimitado, Su misericordia es ilimitada. Por lo tanto la misericordia del Señor Supremo para con Sus devotos puros es ilimitada.
