कच्चिन्नोभयविभ्रष्टश्छिन्नाभ्रमिव नश्यति ।
अप्रतिष्ठो महाबाहो विमूढो ब्रह्मण: पथि ॥ ३८ ॥

chinnābhram iva naśyati
apratiṣṭho mahā-bāho
vimūḍho brahmaṇaḥ pathi

 | O mighty-armed Kṛṣṇa, does not such a man, who is bewildered from the path of transcendence, fall away from both spiritual and material success and perish like a riven cloud, with no position in any sphere?
| | ¡Oh Kṛṣṇa, el de los poderosos brazos!, ¿tal hombre siendo desviado del sendero de la Trascendencia, no se aleja del éxito tanto espiritual como material y perece como una nube desbaratada, sin posición alguna en ninguna esfera?

PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO
| | There are two ways to progress. Those who are materialists have no interest in transcendence; therefore they are more interested in material advancement by economic development, or in promotion to the higher planets by appropriate work. When one takes to the path of transcendence, one has to cease all material activities and sacrifice all forms of so-called material happiness. If the aspiring transcendentalist fails, then he apparently loses both ways; in other words, he can enjoy neither material happiness nor spiritual success. He has no position; he is like a riven cloud. A cloud in the sky sometimes deviates from a small cloud and joins a big one. But if it cannot join a big one, then it is blown away by the wind and becomes a nonentity in the vast sky. The brahmaṇaḥ pathi is the path of transcendental realization through knowing oneself to be spiritual in essence, part and parcel of the Supreme Lord, who is manifested as Brahman, Paramātmā and Bhagavān. Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa is the fullest manifestation of the Supreme Absolute Truth, and therefore one who is surrendered to the Supreme Person is a successful transcendentalist. To reach this goal of life through Brahman and Paramātmā realization takes many, many births (bahūnāṁ janmanām ante). Therefore the supermost path of transcendental realization is bhakti-yoga, or Kṛṣṇa consciousness, the direct method.
| | Existen dos formas de progresar. Aquellos que son materialistas no tienen interés en la Trascendencia; por eso ellos se interesan más en el avance material mediante el desarrollo económico, o en el ascenso a los planetas más elevados mediante el trabajo apropiado. Cuando alguien emprende el sendero de la Trascendencia, tiene que desistir de todas las actividades materiales y sacrificar todas las formas de la presunta felicidad material. Si el trascendentalista fracasa en Su intento, aparentemente pierde de ambas formas; en otras palabras, ni puede disfrutar de la felicidad material, ni tampoco del éxito espiritual. El no tiene ninguna posición; es como una nube desbaratada. Algunas veces, una nube en el cielo se desvía de una nube pequeña y se une a una más grande. Pero si no puede unirse a la grande, entonces el viento la arrastra y desaparece en el vasto cielo. Brahmaṇaḥ pathi es el sendero de la realización trascendental mediante el conocimiento de que uno mismo es espiritual en esencia, parte o porción del Señor Supremo quien se manifiesta como Brahman, Paramātmā y Bhagavān. El Señor Śrī Kṛṣṇa es la manifestación más completa de la Suprema Verdad Absoluta, por lo tanto aquel que está rendido a la Suprema Persona es un trascendentalista exitoso. Alcanzar esta meta de la vida a través de la comprensión de Brahman y de Paramātmā toma muchísimos nacimientos: bahūnāṁ janmanām ante. Por lo tanto, lo máximo de la realización trascendental es el bhakti-yoga o la Conciencia de Kṛṣṇa, el método directo.
