स निश्चयेन योक्तव्यो योगोऽनिर्विण्णचेतसा ।
सङ्कल्पप्रभवान्कामांस्त्यक्त्वा सर्वानशेषत: ।
मनसैवेन्द्रियग्रामं विनियम्य समन्तत: ॥ २४ ॥

yogo ’nirviṇṇa-cetasā
saṅkalpa-prabhavān kāmāṁs
tyaktvā sarvān aśeṣataḥ
manasaivendriya-grāmaṁ
viniyamya samantataḥ

TRANSLATION — TRADUCCION
 | One should engage oneself in the practice of yoga with determination and faith and not be deviated from the path. One should abandon, without exception, all material desires born of mental speculation and thus control all the senses on all sides by the mind.
| | Uno debe ocuparse en la práctica del yoga con determinación y fe sin desviarse del camino. Debe abandonar sin excepción todos los deseos materiales nacidos de la especulación mental, de esta forma controlar mediante la mente, todos los sentidos en todos lados.

PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO
| | The yoga practitioner should be determined and should patiently prosecute the practice without deviation. One should be sure of success at the end and pursue this course with great perseverance, not becoming discouraged if there is any delay in the attainment of success. Success is sure for the rigid practitioner. Regarding bhakti-yoga, Rūpa Gosvāmī says:
| | El practicante de yoga debe ser determinado y debe proseguir pacientemente la práctia sin desviación. El debe estar seguro del éxito final y proseguir este curso con gran perseverancia, sin desalentárse si hay alguna demora en la obtención del éxito. El éxito es seguro para el practi¿ante rígido. Respecto al bhakti-yoga, Rūpa Gosvāmī dice:

| | | “One can execute the process of bhakti-yoga successfully with full-hearted enthusiasm, perseverance and determination, by following the prescribed duties in the association of devotees and by engaging completely in activities of goodness.” (Upadeśāmṛta 3)
| | «El proceso de bhakti-yoga puede ejecutarse exitosamente con el corazón lleno de entusiasmo, perseverancia y determinación, siguiendo los deberes prescritos en la asociación de devotos y ocupándose completamente en las actividades de la bondad». (Upadeśāmṛta 3)
| | | As for determination, one should follow the example of the sparrow who lost her eggs in the waves of the ocean. A sparrow laid her eggs on the shore of the ocean, but the big ocean carried away the eggs on its waves. The sparrow became very upset and asked the ocean to return her eggs. The ocean did not even consider her appeal. So the sparrow decided to dry up the ocean. She began to pick out the water in her small beak, and everyone laughed at her for her impossible determination. The news of her activity spread, and at last Garuḍa, the gigantic bird carrier of Lord Viṣṇu, heard it. He became compassionate toward his small sister bird, and so he came to see the sparrow. Garuḍa was very pleased by the determination of the small sparrow, and he promised to help. Thus Garuḍa at once asked the ocean to return her eggs lest he himself take up the work of the sparrow. The ocean was frightened at this, and returned the eggs. Thus the sparrow became happy by the grace of Garuḍa.
| | En cuanto a la determinación, se debe seguir el ejemplo del gorrión que perdió sus huevos en las olas del océano. Un gorrión puso sus huevos en la orilla del océano, pero el gran océano se llevó los huevos con sus olas. El gorrión se trastornó y le pidió al océano que le regresara sus huevos. Pero el océano ni siquiera consideró su súplica. Entonces el gorrión decidió secar el océano. Comenzó a sacar el agua con su pequeño pico, todo mundo se rió de él por por su imposible determinación. La noticia de su actividad se difundió y por fin fue escuchada por Garuḍa, la gigantesca ave portadora del Señor Viṣṇu. El se compadeció de su hermanito pájaro y así fue a ver al gorrión. Garuḍa estaba muy complacido por la determinación del gorrioncillo y le prometió ayudarlo. Así, al instante Garuḍa le pidió al océano que regresara los huevos, de lo contrario, él tomaría el trabajo del gorrión. El océano se asustó con esto y regresó los huevos. De esta manera, por la gracia de Garuḍa el gorrión se puso feliz.
| | | Similarly, the practice of yoga, especially bhakti-yoga in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, may appear to be a very difficult job. But if anyone follows the principles with great determination, the Lord will surely help, for God helps those who help themselves.
| | En forma similar la práctica del yoga, especialmente el bhakti-yoga en Conciencia de Kṛṣṇa, quizá parezca que es una labor muy difícil. Pero si alguien sigue los principios con gran determinación, el Señor seguramente lo ayudará porque Dios ayuda a aquellos que se ayudan a sí mismos.
