 | Both as friend and philosopher to Arjuna, Lord Kṛṣṇa now gives His final judgment regarding Arjuna’s refusal to fight. The Lord says, “Arjuna, if you leave the battlefield before the battle even begins, people will call you a coward. And if you think that people may call you bad names but that you will save your life by fleeing the battlefield, then My advice is that you’d do better to die in the battle. For a respectable man like you, ill fame is worse than death. So, you should not flee for fear of your life; better to die in the battle. That will save you from the ill fame of misusing My friendship and from losing your prestige in society.”
| | El Señor Kṛṣṇa, en Su calidad tanto de amigo como de filósofo, da ahora Su juicio final a Arjuna respecto al rechazo que éste hace de la lucha. El Señor dice: “Arjuna, si abandonas el campo de batalla la gente te llamará cobarde, aun antes de que huyas. Y si piensas que la gente podrá difamarte pero que salvarás tu vida al escapar, entonces Mi consejo es que sería mejor que murieses en la batalla. Para un hombre respetable como tú, la mala fama es peor que la muerte. Así pues, no deberías huir por temor a perder la vida; es mejor que mueras en la batalla. Eso te salvará de la mala fama de abusar de Mi amistad, y de perder tu prestigio en la sociedad”.
