वेदानां सामवेदॊ ऽसमि देवानाम अस्मि वासवः
इन्द्रियाणां मनश चास्मि भूतानाम अस्मि चेतना

vedānāṁ sāma-vedo ’smi
devānām asmi vāsavaḥ
indriyāṇāṁ manaś cāsmi
bhūtānām asmi cetanā

asmi		I am
devānām		of all the demigods
asmi		I am
vāsavaḥ		the heavenly king
indriyāṇām		of all the senses

bhūtānām		of all living entities
asmi		I am
cetanā		the living force

TRANSLATION — TRADUCCION

Of the Vedas I am the Sāma Veda; of the demigods I am Indra, the king of heaven; of the senses I am the mind; and in living beings I am the living force [consciousness].

De los Vedas Soy el Sāma-veda; de los semidioses Yo soy Indra, el rey del cielo; de los sentidos Soy la mente; y de los seres vivientes Soy la fuerza viviente (la conciencia).

PURPORT — SIGNIFICADO

The difference between matter and spirit is that matter has no consciousness like the living entity; therefore this consciousness is supreme and eternal. Consciousness cannot be produced by a combination of matter.

La diferencia entre la materia y el espíritu es que la materia no tiene conciencia como la entidad viviente; por lo tanto esta conciencia es suprema Y eterna. La conciencia no puede ser producida por una combinación de la materia.
