 | There are two kinds of trembling of the body, and two kinds of standings of the hair on end. Such phenomena occur either in great spiritual ecstasy or out of great fear under material conditions. There is no fear in transcendental realization. Arjuna’s symptoms in this situation are out of material fear – namely, loss of life. This is evident from other symptoms also; he became so impatient that his famous bow Gāṇḍīva was slipping from his hands, and, because his heart was burning within him, he was feeling a burning sensation of the skin. All these are due to a material conception of life.
| | Hay dos clases de temblor del cuerpo y dos clases de erizamiento del cabello. Estos fenómenos ocurren ya sea por profundo éxtasis espiritual o por gran temor bajo condiciones materiales. No hay temor en la realización trascendental. Los síntomas de Arjuna en esta ocasión se deben a temor material, es decir al temor de perder la vida. Esto también resulta evidente de otros síntomas: se puso tan impaciente que su famoso arco Gāṇḍīva se le resbalaba de las manos y debido a que su corazón ardía dentro de él, sentía una sensación ardiente en la piel. Todos estos síntomas se deben a un concepto material de la vida.
